Fill your league

Matchmaking

Let golfers without a full team sign up anyway, then pair them into teams and tee times — and collect the fee once they're placed.

How matchmaking works

Matchmaking lets a golfer who doesn’t have a full team — a single golfer, or two friends on a league of four-player teams — sign up anyway. They join your league’s matchmaking list, and you pair them with other golfers to build full teams.

  1. You turn it on for the league.
  2. Golfers join the list from your sign-up link, choosing I don’t have a full team — pair me with someone. Nothing is charged yet.
  3. The Hub proposes teams from the golfers waiting, and you accept the ones you’re happy with.
  4. On a league with tee times, you then place each full team in a tee time and bay. On a league without tee times, the new team is ready as soon as you accept it.
  5. The team pays once it’s placed.

Turn matchmaking on

Where the switch lives depends on how teams play:

Each team picks a recurring time (tee-time slots)The slot schedule — in the wizard’s Session Configuration, or League Actions → Schedule & tee timesAllow smaller parties to use matchmaking
No tee times (everyone at the same time, or floating)Edit League → Team SettingsPair golfers into teams

On a tee-time league, the switch sits under Registration restrictions, next to how big a party has to be to claim a tee time:

  • Only confirm registrations that fill the entire tee time slot — golfers must register enough players to fill the slot. With matchmaking on, a smaller party joins the list instead of being turned away.
  • Confirm partial tee time slot registrations — golfers may claim a slot without filling it. With matchmaking on, golfers who can’t fill a whole team can still join the list.

With matchmaking off, a smaller party is told the league doesn’t pair players up; a whole team can always register on its own. A league whose teams hold one golfer has nothing to pair.

What golfers see

When a golfer registers from your sign-up link without a full team:

  1. On the Team step, they choose I don’t have a full team — pair me with someone.
  2. Join the matchmaking list shows who’s in their party — they can hold a spot for a friend they’ll name later — and, on a tee-time league, their Preferred days and Preferred times, or Any day and time works.
  3. It tells them there’s nothing to pay now: the fee is due once you pair their party into a team and, on a tee-time league, a tee time.
  4. They click Join matchmaking list.

A held spot is charged like any other seat when the team is placed.

Leagues your league Slots View matchmaking list

The Matchmaking list opens over the Slots tab, so you can see the tee-time grid beside it. It counts the parties waiting and the seats they need.

  1. Click Propose matches. The Hub works out ways to combine the waiting golfers.
  2. 1. Form teams — when teams hold more than one golfer, each proposal builds one full team out of golfers who signed up separately and share a night and tee time. Click Accept team on the ones you want. The team is formed and waits for a tee time; nothing is charged yet.
  3. 2. Place teams in tee times — each proposal puts full teams in a bay at a tee time. On a league at more than one club, each proposal names the club. Click Commit on the ones you want.

When you commit, the team is seated in that tee time and becomes active. Golfers who still owe get a “your team has been selected” email with a payment link. Track it on the Payments tab like any other team.

Leagues your league Matchmaking

With no bay to fill and no night to choose, matchmaking only has to build whole teams. These leagues get a Matchmaking tab of their own.

  1. Open Matchmaking. It counts the teams still short of a full side, and how many sign-ups they came from.
  2. Click Propose teams. Each proposal builds one full team out of golfers who signed up separately.
  3. Click Accept team. The golfers are merged into a single team, which owes one team entry fee.
  4. Collect the fee and record it on Payments → Actions → Record Payment — see Payments.

Groups with a full team and golfers still waiting

Edit League Team Settings

Sometimes a group signs up with one full team plus a golfer or two still looking for teammates — say five friends on a league of four-player teams. On a league with start times, choose what happens with When a group has a full team and golfers still waiting for teammates:

ChoiceWhat happens
Keep the group togetherThe default. The full team waits until the rest of the group is paired, then everyone is placed in one bay.
Place the full team nowThe full team goes into a tee time straight away; the others keep waiting for teammates.

This only matters when one tee time holds more than one team.

Questions people ask

When do matched golfers pay?

Not when they join the list. On a league with tee times, once you place their team, golfers who still owe get a "your team has been selected" email with a payment link. On a league without tee times, the new team owes one team entry fee, which you collect and record.

Where is the Matchmaking tab?

Only leagues without tee times have a Matchmaking tab. A league where teams pick a recurring time keeps its matchmaking list on the Slots tab, under View matchmaking list.

A golfer was placed in a team. Why are they still on the list?

They shouldn't be — once seated, a golfer drops off the matchmaking list. Click Refresh, and if they're still there, propose again; the old proposals may be out of date.
