Build your league
Divisions and flights
Split one league into smaller groups so teams compete against similar teams — automatically or by hand.
What they are
| Group | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Divisions | The outermost group. Many leagues use divisions for league nights — for example Monday and Tuesday — or for big skill groups. |
| Flights | Smaller groups inside each division (or across the whole league if divisions are off) — for example A, B and C flights by handicap. |
When you use them, the Standings tab gets a tab for each division — plus a League tab when there are two or more divisions — and each flight gets its own table inside its division. The Schedule gets a division filter. Until you turn them on, the Hub says Not in use — one standings table.
Turn them on and auto-assign teams
Teams Divisions and Flights
- On the Teams tab, click Divisions and Flights. A full-screen tool opens.
- At the top right, switch on Divisions (outermost group), Flights (inside each division), or both.
- Click Auto-assign….
- Choose Assign by — separately for divisions and for flights:
- Handicap — groups of similar handicaps.
- Night — one division per night teams play.
- Night & time (divisions only) — one division per night and start time, optionally split into divisions of at most a number of teams, by handicap.
- Keep current — leave the existing groups as they are (for flights, only when divisions are on).
- For Handicap, choose Size by: Number of divisions or Teams per division (or flights), and type the number.
- Leave Keep registrations together ticked if teams that signed up as a group should stay in the same division and flight.
- Check the Preview, then click Apply. It saves right away. If asked Apply with unsaved changes?, click Apply and save.
Move teams by hand
- Drag a team card from one division to another — or use the menu on the card to move it without dragging. The number on the card is the team’s handicap.
- The Unassigned column on the left holds teams with no division (or no flight, if you only use flights). Drag a team onto Drop here to unassign to take it out.
- Type a name in a division’s name box. Capacity is the number of teams you plan for; the board shows “N of M teams” so you can see when a division is over, but it doesn’t stop you adding more.
- Add division adds another; Add flight adds a flight inside a division.
- Clear assignments puts every team back in Unassigned.
- When you’re done, click Save changes (bottom right). Cancel discards your moves.
Questions people ask
How does "by handicap" decide who goes where?
The Hub sorts teams from lowest to highest handicap and cuts the list into the number of groups you ask for, each with about the same number of teams. The first group gets the lowest handicaps. Teams with no handicap yet go in the last group, and teams that registered together move as one, placed by their average.
Can I set my own handicap ranges for flights, like 0 to 5?
Not yet — it's coming. Today, use auto-assign by handicap or move teams by hand.
Does Capacity stop a division from taking more teams?
No. Capacity is the number of teams you plan for. The board shows "N of M teams" so you can see when a division is over, but it doesn't block anything.
